Westport Cultural Council Meeting Minutes of October 6, 2021

Members attending: Ruth Bourns, Merri Cyr, Rob Del Gaudio ( by phone), Midori

Evans, Tom Peirce, Carol Vidal, Nancy Whitin, Alexandra Whitney.

 

Carol welcomed all new members of the Board: Rob Del Gaudio, Midori Evans, and

Tom Peirce. All new members have been sworn in by the Town Clerk.

Nancy moved to accept the Minutes of September 1, 2021. Tom seconded. All voted in

favor.

Treasurer’s Report - Alexandra gave the Treasurer’s Report. 5% of the LCC Grant will

be set aside for WCC expenses. The group discussed using any6 unspent funds for

Council needs.

Outreach - There are no pressing issues at the moment. Soon the Council will be

voting on the LCC applications with the LCC money available.

The Helen Ellis grants will be made public in midwinter, possibly February or March.

The Website will be updated to have the current updates.

Aspects of the Panel Book procedure were discussed.

Carol reported on the status of the Helen Ellis Grants application. Some Helen Ellis

Grants are outstanding until April. Stephanie Winters has asked to extend her deadline

for reimbursement to September 1, 2022 for the Bach Cello Suite Festival. She will be

preforming for the Westport community in May 2022. Alexandra moved to approve this

change. Nancy seconded.

Ruth spoke with Gail Roderigues about the Helen Ellis Grant awarded to her to publish

her book, Women of Westport. A recent, second edition has been published, and it will

be used as part of the third grade curriculum in the Westport Schools. Gail is pleased

with the book’s publication and she thanks the Council for the Helen Ellis Grants that

have made it possible.

Alexandra moved that the Meeting be adjourned. Nancy seconded. All voted in favor.

The next meeting will be held on November 3, 2021.
