Recent News and Calendar Items From the Tax Collector's Office

Fiscal 2020 First and Second Quarter Preliminary Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Bills were mailed July 26, 2019.  The first quarter bill will be due August 26, 2019 and the second quarter will be due November 1, 2019.  

 

Fiscal 2020 First & Second Quarter Preliminary Real Estate Tax Bills and Personal Property Tax Bills

Fiscal 2020 Preliminary 1st & 2nd quarter Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills were mailed July 26, 2019. First quarter bills are due on or before August 26, 2019.  Second quarter bills are due on or before November 1, 2019, No reminder will be sent.  There is no grace period. Payments are considered made when received by the Collector. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery. Any payment received after the due date is subject to 14% per annum interest.

New property owners may contact the office of the Collector of Taxes at 508-636-1010 or by email  (collector@westport-ma.gov) for a copy if you did not receive one.

2019 Motor Vehicle Excise Bills

Motor Vehicle Excise bills will be mailed on April 9, 2019 and have a due date of Thursday, May 9, 2019.   The Town Hall will be closed Monday, April 15th and Friday, April 19th.  Taxpayers may make payments at the office, by mail or online.

Motor vehicle excise bills are due 30 days from issue. Any unpaid bill will be subject to a demand bill which will include a $30 demand fee and interest at 12% per annum. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery.

Any bill needing an abatement (adjustment) due to cancelling a plate or switching plates to a new vehicle is done through the assessors office 508-636-1012.  Your cancelled plate receipt is required if cancelled and a copy of the new registration is needed if plate was switched to another vehicle.  All bills are due by May 9, 2019. Be advised requesting an abatement does not extend the due date for payment. Please plan accordingly.

Boat excise bills were mailed on February 26, 2019 and will be due on or before Friday, April 26, 2019. The Town Hall will be closed Monday, April 15th and Friday April 19th.  Any unpaid bill will be subject to a demand bill which will include a $30 demand fee, a $20 or 20% penalty whichever is greater, and interest at 12% per annum. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery. 

Credit Card Payments

We are now accepting Credit card payments online only. Be advised there is a 2.95% fee ($1 minimum) that applies for this service. 

Online Payments

Payments may be made online.  Taxpayers may sign up by visiting the town's website at www.westport-ma.com and clicking on Pay Taxes Online.  Follow the instructions from there.
