Important information regarding your Tax Bill

To pay online simply go to www.westport-ma.com then click the link at the bottom of the home page “Pay Taxes Online”. 

If mailing your payment, please use our new address Town of Westport, P O Box 901, Reading, MA 01867-0124 for prompt processing of your bill.

For your convenience, we now have a drop box located outside the town hall for anyone wishing to drop off payments.  No Cash Please!

Fiscal 2024 Third & Fourth Quarter Actual Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Bills

Fiscal 2024 Preliminary 3rd & 4th quarter Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills were mailed December 28, 2023.  Third quarter bills are due on or before February 1, 2024.  Fourth quarter bills are due on or before May 1, 2024, No reminder will be sent.  There is no grace period. Payments are considered made when received by the Collector. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery. Any payment received after the due date is subject to 14% per annum interest.

New property owners may contact the office of the Collector of Taxes at 508-636-1010 or by email  (collector@westport-ma.gov) for a copy of your bill if you did not  receive one.

 

2024 Motor Vehicle Excise Bills

Motor Vehicle Excise bills were mailed on March 11, 2024 and have a due date of Thursday April 10, 2024.  Taxpayers may make payments online, by mail, through the Drop Box in front of town hall, or in person.

Motor vehicle excise bills are due 30 days from issue. Any unpaid bill will be subject to a demand bill which will include a $30 demand fee and interest at 12% per annum. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery.

Any bill needing an abatement (adjustment) due to cancelling a plate or switching plates to a new vehicle is done through the assessors office 508-636-1012.  To obtain an abatement, you will need documentation of sale or disposal of your old vehicle along with your cancelled plate receipt,if cancelled or a copy of the new registration if plate was switched to another vehicle.  Be advised requesting an abatement does not extend the due date for payment. Please plan accordingly.

 

2024 Boat Excise Bills

Boat excise bills were mailed on August 31, 2023 and will be due on or before October 30, 2023. Please pay online, by mail, through the drop box in front of Town Hall, or in person.  Any unpaid bill will be   subject to a demand bill which will include a $30 demand fee, a $20 or 20% penalty whichever is greater, and interest at 12% per annum. It now takes two days for a 1st class letter to be delivered, please mail early to ensure on time delivery. 

 

Credit Card Payments

We are now accepting Credit card payments online only. Be advised there is a 2.95% fee ($1 minimum) that applies for this service. 

Online Payments

Payments may be made online.  Taxpayers may sign up by visiting the town's website at www.westport-ma.com and clicking on Pay Taxes Online.  Follow the instructions from there.
