The Town of Westport announces that it has renewed its electricity aggregation program for another 35 months starting in January 2021. No action is required on the part of the current program participants as they will continue their electricity service automatically with the new supplier, Constellation at 833-461-0813.

The Westport CEA program is part of a larger electricity purchasing group, providing Westport residents and businesses with competitive choice and longer-term price stability. During the first five years of the program, it has provided significant value to the community.

The new default program rate is $0.10470 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from January 2021 through December 2023; this default rate meets all state renewable electricity standards. The Eversource Residential Basic Service electricity rate is $0.11882/kWh for the six-month period January through June 2021. The National Grid Residential Basic Service electricity rate is $0.12388/kWh for the six-month period from November 2020 through April 2021. In addition, the program also offers two options with more renewable electricity than required by state law. More information about the program and all the options can be found on the program website masscea.com/Westport.

The program rates, resulting from a competitive bid, are fixed over the 35 months of the electric supply agreement (ESA) from January 2021 through December 2023. The Westport CEA product offerings and rates will be:

Since 2016 the Town of Westport has been participating in a program with 24 other Massachusetts cities and towns that seeks a favorable electricity rate for Westport's residents and small businesses through a competitive bidding process. This is referred to as the "Energy Aggregation Program." The rates the towns receive are lower than most other available rates including the Basic Service rates offered by Eversource and Direct Energy. The Aggregation Program has saved participating Westport residents hundreds of dollars each year.

The new aggregation program begins in January 2021. The energy supplier is Constellation Energy. The new rate is $0.10470/kwh fixed for 3 years. Residents who currently participate in the Aggregation Program do not need to do anything. They will automatically be enrolled in the new program. Those residents who use a different electricity supplier can find out how they can participate in Westport's Aggregation Program by calling Constellation at 833-461-0813.
