SHELLFISH AQUACULTURE LICENSING STEPS

Waiting List Application is completed and submitted to the Board of Selectmen's Office, along with $100.00 non-refundable fee and Shellfish Constable is notified.

Shellfish Aquaculture License Application is obtained at the Board of Selectmen's Office. Once application to all required Town Boards, Committees and Commissions is completed, the application along with the $250.00 fee shall be submitted to the Board of Selectmen's Office. The Shellfish Constable and Shellfish Advisory Committee will be notified of such application; comments to be submitted to the Selectmen's Office within 30 days.

A public hearing is held by the Licensing Authority (Board of Selectmen). Applicant and abutters will be notified, notification will be in the local newspaper, posted in the Town Hall and on the Town's website. The Shellfish Constable and Shellfish Advisory Committee will be notified of such hearing.

The Licensing Authority (Selectmen) may approve or disapprove of the license. If approved, the licensee shall provide proof of a $250,000 performance bond. There will also be a $5.00 per license charged for each granted, renewed or transferred license. There will be an annual fee of $25.00 per acre, per year for each license, which is due and payable upon issuance of license or renewal, on or before January 1st.

Once approved, the Shellfish Constable will forward the information to the Division of Marine Fisheries.
