2011 MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE BILLS MAILED 3/18/11
New bills for 2011 (along with some bills for 2010), were mailed on March 18, 2011. They are due on April 19, 2011 (not May 2, 2011 – May 2nd is the day Real Estate & Personal Property bills are due). Bills not paid timely are subject to a $10.00 demand, fees and interest at the rate of 12% per annum.
As our office is running short staffed, we are closed on Fridays, but we will open Friday, April 15th for your convenience. Please note the office will be closed on Monday, April 18th (Patriots Day).
Payments may be made in person at the office, sent in by mail with a copy of the bill, or online using our e-bill. A mail slot has been installed in our office door for your convenience. No more waiting in line if you do not want a receipt. Do not drop off payments in the mailbox outside.
To pay using e-bill, please scroll down and select Tax Collector under Departments (at top of page). Follow instructions to sign up. Payment may be made for a 35 cent per transaction fee. Any problems signing up, please dial 508-460-6000, ext. 601. Someone will assist you. This is the preferred method of on-line payment we would like to see our taxpayers use. Your account is automatically posted when you use this service. To pay excise bills, use your plate # to find your bill. Be sure the amount is the same as on your bill.
Approximately 18,000 bills are due in 30 days. When customers use their own bill pay service provided by their own bank, a paper check is generated and sent into the office for payment. No bill is included. A bill has to be printed to enter it into the system. (This is very time consuming and another expense to taxpayers as another bill is printed).
Your consideration in switching over to our e-bill system would be greatly appreciated!
